Bjarke Ingels Group has teamed up with the Italian lighting brand Artemide to create a color-changing lamp that will help plants grow.<\/strong><\/p>\n

A pill-shaped blown glass lamp called Gople uses Artemide's patented RWB lighting system designed in 2010 to help plants do photosynthesis.\u00a0<\/span>Blue light with a wavelength of 425 to 450 nanometres is used to stimulate the vegetative section of the plant, while red light with a wavelength of 575 to 625 nanometres promotes flowering.<\/span><\/p>\n

BIG has identified the need for a versatile lamp that can support plant growth, but also provide environmental and functional white lighting when needed.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\u201cNot only the confluence of different knowledge and approaches, but also a very open and collaborative exchange allowed us to achieve the desired result,\u201d said architect, Artemide designer and vice-president, Carlotta de Bevilacqua.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018A\u00a0<\/span>BIG<\/span>\u00a0was able to combine innovative technology with the design of the blower glass. The result was so interesting that it was natural to present it as an Artemide collection.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The lamps were handmade using an old Venetian glass blowing technique that gradually turns white glass into crystal glass.\u00a0<\/span>Gople has a white crystal, transparent silver and transparent bronze coating.<\/span><\/p>\n
