Hungarian designers introduce themselves at the Romanian Design Week

Hungarian designers will make their debut at the seventh Romanian Design Week in Bucharest, which is the most important annual event in the Romanian design profession, the centre of the Balassi Institute in Bucharest said on Thursday.

At the event, which will take place between 18 and 26 May, the Romanian audience will be able to see new outstanding works of Hungarian design. The Balassi Institute continues the successful cooperation of previous years with the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design Budapest, this year there will be exhibitions of two departments in Bucharest: At the headquarters of the institute, visitors can see MOME's fashion, textile and seating exhibition.
MOME's fashion and textile exhibition provides insight into the work of woven fabric designers, print and sample designers, as well as knitwear and design specializations. The MOME seating exhibition features unique pieces of furniture, including personalised resting furniture, easy-to-carry, disassembled seats and reinterpreted chairs.
In connection with the centenary of the foundation of the Bauhaus, the exhibition entitled The Hungarians and the Bauhaus Theatrical Revolution will be on display at the Odeon Theatre. The first stop of the travelling exhibition prepared by the Cultural Diplomacy Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade will be Bucharest, where a mock-up based on Andor Weininger's Sphere Theatre Plan will be presented.
The outdoor exhibition of the Csernátoni Design Camp will be on view in the courtyard of the Balassi Institute. The creative camp organized by the organizers of Design Week in Sfântu Gheorghe and MOME Budapest is aimed at young people who are studying design at different universities in Hungary and Romania. The exhibition offers a selection of works from the creative camps of the past two years.
The exhibitions are complemented by professional meetings and presentations.
