Five Hungarian brands at Milan Fashion Week – the Abodi, a Cukovy, is Elysian, a Je Suis Belle and a Sigismund Dora menswear – showcase your collection.
In addition to the catwalks, the exhibition space of the Fashion Hub will also feature the assemblies dreamt up by Hungarian designers. The products of the five Hungarian designers travelling to the Fashion Week can be purchased under the umbrella brand Budapest Select in the Budapest Select showroom in the city centre of Milan since 27 January.
According to the announcement, in addition to the fashion show to be held on 21 February in the imposing building of the Museo della Permanente in Milan, 15-20 pieces of the designers' autumn/winter collection will also be displayed at the Fashion Hub exhibition between 19 and 24 February. It is a curiosity that the Elysian brand can hold a separate presentation on February 19, for which it won the Buyers Award 2019 last year.
“It is a great pleasure for us to participate in Milan Fashion Week for the third time, and we are very proud to see how the Hungarian designers have developed thanks to the mentoring programme on the international runways. Another huge step forward is that from this year onwards, a dedicated sample room, the Budapest Select showroom, will be waiting for visitors in the heart of Milan with the most outstanding pieces of designers until the second week of March", recalls Zsófia Bata-Jakab, head of the Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency. He added: The special showroom also means that the international profession has recognized the creativity and potential of Hungarian products, which contributes to the image of Hungary.

According to the three-year strategic agreement signed by the Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency (MDDÜ) and Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana (CNMI) in August 2018, the market-leading Italian fashion chamber actively promotes and supports the development of emerging Hungarian designers. This is served by the international mentoring program jointly developed by the two organizations, the main goal of which is to help brands acquire the business knowledge necessary for successful branding, as well as to support them in entering the international market and preparing them for success.
Within the framework of the pre-assessed program based on individual needs, for example, during face-to-face meetings, workshops and factory visits, the mentors learned the skills of product development, branding and communication, and business planning. Thanks to the successful completion of the programme, the mentors’ advice and guidance, Hungarian brands are of such a high standard in terms of both quality and creativity that they can stand their ground in any foreign showroom.
The Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency created the Budapest Select umbrella brand to promote Hungarian fashion and design brands internationally. The main goal of the Budapest-focused umbrella brand is to ensure that Hungarian brands receive more attention during their international appearance through unified communication, while retaining their own image elements. Thanks to the umbrella brand, collective participation creates a much stronger impression in the foreign profession than if the brands appeared alone at these events, the summary reads.
