ITM: MOME design-based business development training helps SMEs

The Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design (MOME) provides support for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises to renew and maintain competitiveness through a free, digital platform business development training, the launch of which was entrusted to the University by the Ministry of Innovation and Technology (ITM).

László György, ITM's Minister of State for Economic Strategy and Regulation, said at a press conference held in Budapest on Friday that Hungary has been building a job- and knowledge-based society and economy for ten years, and they do not deviate from this when dealing with the coronavirus crisis.
MOME plans to re-announce the currently running training next year, which will contribute to the ministry's efforts to provide those whose workload is temporarily reduced with trainings that enable them to permanently increase their ability to generate added value, i.e. to preserve and strengthen the jobs of their employees.
József Fülöp, the rector of the university said that the objective of MOME's Design Competence Centre is to help medium-sized and small enterprises in Hungary to bring their own products and higher value-added services to the market as efficiently as possible in its design-based and more and more widely interpretable tool system.
Éva Tornyánszki, the professional leader of the training, emphasized that Design in Business 1.0 reflects on the crisis situation and the changed world, as an SME has to be flexible and have a creative problem-solving attitude. The training will develop competences such as mastering design thinking, creative innovation strategies, and SMEs can also develop their visual communication skills.
The course was announced on July 1 and launched on September 28 with more than 70 people, with more than 100 applicants. Due to high interest, a resumption of the training is planned in January 2021.     90% of the applicants came from the service sector, 70% from micro-enterprises, 12% from small and 17% from medium-sized enterprises. Most of them want to solve some kind of problem in the business or develop a product or service. 90% of the online learning content is audio material, which is practical for busy SMEs, he added.
