The next rector of MOME is being sought in an international competition

Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design (MOME) is looking for its next rector in a novel way in Hungarian higher education through an open international competition – the institution told MTI.

‘The founder of the institution, the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design, decided to introduce a new practice, hitherto unknown in Hungarian higher education, for the selection of the next rector. The most important novelty is that the tender announced now is international, i.e. they are looking for the most suitable leader for the university from and beyond the borders", the MOME said in a statement.
“We are a national institution, but arts and design are an international language. We can do the most for Hungary by building a university from which our students have the highest chance of achieving worldwide success. To do this, we need the best rector available, from home, from the region or from anywhere in the world", MOME Foundation President Gergely Böszörményi-Nagy is quoted in the announcement of the competition.
As they wrote, in addition to the professional background, the expectations related to leadership skills are also emphasized in the application. These include dynamic and future-oriented thinking, the ability to support staff on a daily basis, excellent language skills and a high-level international network that can be used for the benefit of the university. MOME's maintainer devotes more than a year and a half to selecting and preparing the new rector.
The current rector, József Fülöp, the MOME Senate and the international advisory body of the Foundation for the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design took part in the preparation of the open international competition.
