Koros Design debuted in Pécs, presenting its light installation at the Stockholm Light Festival

Koros Design, a recurring team of light festivals in Pécs, will be able to make its debut in 2021 at the Nobel Week Lights event in Stockholm, which was held during the week of the awarding of the Nobel Prizes, Zsolnay Heritage Management NKft., the organiser of the festivals in Pécs, told MTI on Friday.

In their statement, they wrote: The Zsolnay Light Festival, in cooperation with the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Pécs, helped to create Koros Design's CONNECTED light creation, which was first presented in Pécs last autumn on the occasion of the opening of the new campus of the Faculty.
The six-meter-high light installation forms a portion of a network of neurons, within which the beams of light symbolize the flow of information between nerve cells. According to the information, the work has been shown at several light festivals around the world in the past year, and will be screened in Stockholm in December.
At the Nobel Week Lights, which takes place during the Nobel Prize week, works of art inspired by Nobel Prize-winning discoveries are presented.
The Hungarian work, which can be seen in Stockholm from 3 to 11 December, was inspired by the 1906 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine awarded to Camillo Golgi and Santiago Ramón y Cajal in recognition of their ‘work on the structure of the nervous system’.
The work, created by the team of Koros Design, reflects on this discovery by depicting giant neurons and the communication structures formed between them.
The installation was inspired by a very important theoretical moment: When two self-increasing neurons come together, they connect and each component becomes part of a system that transcends itself, the communiqué reads.
