Hungarian innovations and glass art are promoted by the Hungarian programs of the International Year of Glass

The Hungarian programmes of the International Year of Glass are promoting Hungarian innovations and glass art, and those interested can take part in diverse exhibitions, professional conferences and workshops in Budapest, Szentendre, Pannonhalma and Győr, the organisers told MTI on Wednesday.

As a result of international professional cooperation, the 75th UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities has been established. Its General Assembly declared 2022 the International Year of Glass. Contemporary art and collection exhibitions, professional conferences and workshops present the past, present and future of Hungarian glass art throughout the year. The official opening of the Hungarian thematic year with a press conference took place on Wednesday in the House of Hungarian Music, the statement reads.
As it is written, you can visit the II. National Salon of Industrial and Design Arts, focusing on the International Year of Glass. The Common Space showcases more than 310 exhibitors and 470 exhibitors, presenting the innovations of Hungarian glass artists in addition to his contemporary glass works. Such as the joint patent of chemists Zoltán Veress (1901-1965) and Zoltán Suha (1932-), the veil glass, or Júllia Báthory (1901-2000) Munkácsy Award winning glass artist created a new genre with the technique of multitone plastic deep sand blowing. Almost at the same time as the Studio Glass Movement, in 1962, he created the experimental glass melting furnace in the basement of the Török Pál Street glasssmith's department, which, in addition to the Hungarian factory and industrial Huta work, provided an unparalleled opportunity for experimental work in warm glass.
The publication recalls that GlasSpring, the spring exhibition of contemporary Hungarian glass art, organized by Kiskép Gallery, presents the glass works of fifty Hungarian, internationally active Hungarian artists in the Klebelsberg Culture, curatorial selection by Ágnes Koós, while also drawing the contemporary position of the International Studio Glass Movement, which started 60 years ago.
The exhibition of six internationally renowned glass artists (Péter Borkovics, Bernadett Hegyvári, László Kyra, Mihály Melcher, Balázs Sipos and Ágnes Smetana) with pictures and sculptures of autonomous value can be visited until 29 May in Szentendre in the Ferenczy Museum.
According to the information, in Pannonhalma, those interested can see the permanent exhibition entitled Fény.tér, presenting more than 50 contemporary representatives of Hungarian and international glass art, in the Hefter Gallery and Studio.
In the coming months, an exhibition reviewing the important stages of glass art from the 18th century to the end of the last century will be held at the De la Motte-Beer Palace, organized by Kiskép Gallery and Ágnes Koós, curator; and the exhibition presenting the history of the Society of Hungarian Glass Artists in the Rómer House in Győr. In the autumn Art Market Budapest, professional actors discuss the role of glass among art genres for the first time with the involvement of international gallerists and artists. The Bohus-Lugossy Foundation, as a partner of 360 Design Budapest, will conclude the 2022 International Year of Glass with an international glass design exhibition, the statement recalls.
The organizing partner of the thematic year in Hungary is the Bohus-Lugossy Foundation for Contemporary Glass Art, among others the Ministry of Human Capacities, the Prime Minister's Office and the Hungarian Academy of Arts.
