Layer’s first wireless tech product for the new brand Nolii is a lamp that charges the phone and also acts as a ‘digital sunrise’ alarm clock.
The lamp called Rise is provided by a battery installed in the base, which provides up to 12 hours of light.
You can charge a device wirelessly via an induction charging pad located at the top of the lamp, or you can connect up to two devices via USB cables connected to the base.
Addition of the lamp is an application that allows tablet and smartphone to illuminate the lamps remotely. You can also programme a ‘digital sunrise’ alarm, which slowly illuminates the lamp into a room that mimics the rising sun.
“With these features, Rise will be a functional node in your home or office environment that can easily change the mood of that environment,” Layer said.
Layer, a studio led by Benjamin Hubert, partnered with Nolii's brand in September 2017, , Asad Hamir, a Kite tech entrepreneur and founder of the eyewear manufacturer.
They aim to disrupt the technology market by eliminating ‘chaotic cords and logo cables’. They already offer a number of accessories for , but this is the brand's first technical product.
The minimum lamp is made of mouth-blown, slightly matte glass and has small, matte plastic details. Lightweight and portable, suitable for indoor and outdoor use.
Users can turn the lamp on and off, as well as adjust the brightness with the touch button of the base. If the lamp is disconnected from the main power source, the base LEDs indicate the state of charge of the battery.
Rise is available in three different colours: cement-grey with indigo finish, moss green, mint green finish and oyster peach finish.
The lamp was unveiled at DesignJunction, held as part of this year's London Design Festival, from 15 to 23 September .
