Lucie Koldova, one of the world's most respected designers, has several beautiful lamps from the BROKIS range, of which one of my favourites, the BALLOONS, designed in collaboration with Dan Yeffet, is now under a bit of a magnifying glass.
BALLONS, one of the pillars of the BROKIS portfolio, is a simple but timeless collection of lamps. A transparent, almost invisible balloon that with its floating-floating bulb plate serves as an elegant light source in any environment. The natural beauty of high-quality, thin, hand-blown glass is emphasized by the clear appearance of transparent balloons.
The collection consists of a smaller table and two larger freestanding models that can be placed on the floor. Balloons in rudimentary shapes suggest the shapes of hot air balloons, with all the elegance of manufactory bottles. The magic of the sculptural design lies in the integration of two independent glass sections, giving the impression of a single round whole.
Its impressive proportions and hand-shaped metal reflector plate are a defining feature of the collection. Its largest variant and its wonderfully pure uniform glass shade push the boundaries of glass blowing technology, while presenting the exceptional mastery of Czech glass manufacturers.
