Seven Hungarian fashion designers presented their collection at the Budapest Select Fashion Show, while Downtown Design, one of the central events of Dubai Design Week, gave ten Hungarian design brands the opportunity to showcase their unconventional creations to resellers and interested audiences. Hungary joins the Dubai World Expo between 1 October and 31 March with a number of programs and events.
Among the programs implemented by Expo 2020 were the events of the Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency, where visitors could get acquainted with the Hungarian creative industry and its outstanding talents.

A large number of visitors not only wanted to see the products on display, but also addressed specific purchase needs and questions to designers, the statement said.
The Budapest Select Fashion Show was held on 9 November, where seven Hungarian brands – Abodi, Elysian, Kata Szegedi, Katti Zoób, Maison Marquise, Mero and Sentiments – presented their collection and the creativity of Hungarian designers. The fashion show was attended by 200 professional guests and journalists, as well as influencers and buyers, to get acquainted with the latest collections of fashion designers. The fashion designers marched under the uniform umbrella brand of MMDÜ, Budapest Select. In order to strengthen the professional dialogue, the MDDÜ also organised a roundtable discussion at the Woman’s Pavilion at the Dubai World Expo. On 10 November, regional and local women leaders shared their personal thoughts and experiences on the future of fashion, the role of women leaders and the importance of sustainability. The participants were Zsófia Bata-Jakab, CEO of the MDDÜ, Camille Boyer, co-founder of the Austrian Fashion Association, and Daria Marusyk, Head of Communication and Sustainability of the Ukrainian Fashion Week, joined by local fashion designer Lama Jouni.
After the situation caused by the pandemic, we finally had the opportunity to introduce ourselves to guests and professionals from all over the world, while new markets were introduced to the creations of Hungarian designers – recalls Zsófia Bata-Jakab, CEO of the Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency.
He stressed: during the events that took place during the Dubai World Expo, “we received fantastic feedback, from which we can conclude that the Hungarian talents are highly valued by the market there”. Dubai is one of the most important trading players in the world, so the introduction of Hungarians can have a very positive impact on the image of the country and the attractiveness of the country for tourism, he stressed.
