This year, for the first time, the 360 Design Budapest exhibition, which will be held in the Adria Palace from 17 to 22 October, will present the works of industrial and visual artists in addition to designers.
For the fourth time, the Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency (MDDÜ) is organising 360 Design Budapest, a series of events featuring well-known and emerging artists, professional presentations and special guided tours, MDDÜ said in a statement.
The special guest of the event will be Rossana Orlandi, one of the most famous figures of international contemporary design.
At the invitation of the agency, this year seventy applications were received from industrial and visual artists, of whom the professional jury will exhibit more than 160 works of sixty artists. Fifteen of the debutees are entry-level designers and ten are foreign designers from Austria, the Czech Republic, Croatia, Poland and Ukraine.
“Besides the Hungarians, 360 Design Budapest introduces artists from five countries of the region, as well as representatives of the international press, who will be invited to the event as part of a hospitality tour to showcase the cultural and artistic values of Budapest”, recalls Zsófia Jakab, CEO of the Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency.
A joint professional day will be held with Art Market Budapest this year, which seeks to answer the question of how contemporary art and design contribute to increasing the value and usefulness of real estate developments and investments, and to shaping the cityscape and country image.
The design LAB curated by Rossana Orlandi manufacturer and designer duo will also present their designs in the framework of 360 Design Budapest, who will implement their product ideas by the end of January 2024. Designer Rossana Orlandi takes part in a discussion after the presentation of the plans, for which she is specifically waiting for the audience interested in the art career.
During the event galleries, museums and showrooms will further diversify the range of related programs throughout the capital.
“We are preparing for this year with a very exciting, diverse programme series and renowned international guests, in order to make 360 Design Budapest the bridge in the region that connects the most important institutions and creators in the framework of a high-quality event,” said Anita Forintos-Szűcs, Chief Executive Officer of the Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency.
The aim of the free event is to introduce the Hungarian design culture in 360 degrees, to support emerging and well-known creators, to make their work visible to a wider audience, and to encourage those interested to buy Hungarian design and home furnishing products.
