Applications for the Hungarian Design Award can be submitted until the beginning of May

Until 2 May, designers can apply for the Hungarian Design Award, the winners of which can receive a gross prize of up to six hundred thousand forints.

The Hungarian Intellectual Property Office (HIPO) announced the application for the Hungarian Design Award jointly with the Ministry of Culture and Innovation (MIM) and the Hungarian Design Council (MFT), the organisations told MTI.
The public announcement aims to promote the recognition of outstanding design performance, the promotion of the use of Hungarian design and the international competitiveness of Hungarian products.
This year again, the committee welcomes applications not older than three years in product, visual communication and design categories, and students participating in the design training of accredited higher education institutions can also apply in the student category. The jury evaluates the incoming works in two rounds, by category, according to their formal quality, novelty, competitiveness, user-friendliness or sustainability. Designers, manufacturers, dealers, distributors and customers can apply for the prize.
This year the jury will include Hedvig Harmati textile designer, Ferenc Kassai graphic artist, Anna Börcsök jewellery designer, Tamás Árkossy wood industry engineer, Tünde Dániel designer, Hunor Árpád György designer, Edit Németh ergonomist, Tünde Ruzicska ceramic designer-industry artist, Péter Serfőző graphic artist-typographer, and Dóri Tomcsányi fashion designer.
The Hungarian Design Council traditionally organizes an exhibition of the awarded works during the Budapest Design Week.
