A European Support Programme for Women Entrepreneurs has been launched

Four innovation agencies, the Hungarian Design Terminal, the German SpinLab – The HHL Accelerator, the Estonian Tehnopol and the Czech DEX Innovation Centre launched a pan-European initiative to improve the situation of women entrepreneurs on Wednesday, Design Terminal told MTI in a statement.

The Hungarian agency is forming the European Network of Women Entrepreneurs as a consortium leader this year within the framework of the EU initiative, they indicated.
From October 2023, women from all over Europe can apply for the Womenture programme, which runs until January 2025, if they want to start a business or develop an existing company. Participants will be supported by experts with targeted professional mentoring. The mentoring programme will start with 20 participants, as announced in the Communication.
The initiative was based on the fact that female-founded startups have much more than average efforts to take the lead against male-led startups. Womenture wants to take this burden off women entrepreneurs. By improving trends, the entire European innovation ecosystem, and not only the female one, can develop.
The Womenture project is funded by the European Union, Switzerland and the United Kingdom, among other projects.
According to a 2022 survey by venture capital firm Atomico, 87% of all venture capital funding in Europe has been raised by male-only teams, while the share of funding raised by female-only startups has fallen from 3% to 1% since 2018.
