This year, eight Hungarian designers won the Red Dot awards, the most prestigious recognition of international design.
The 65-year-old Red Dot Awards are the world's largest and most prestigious design awards. Thousands of applicants include some of the largest companies in the world; this year, the 24-member international jury selected the best of the seventeen categories from 8 697 contestants – Graphasel Design Studio told MTI, which this year won the award for the image designed for Opera Gin Budapest.
The image of the craft Hungarian gin earned recognition in the communication category of the Red Dot brand. Also in this category, the menu card of the Costes restaurant in Budapest received an award (designer: studio NUR), the Budapest Giftbook pager (designer: Botond Vörös), the Happiness Calendar (designer: Marcell Puskás) and the packaging of the activé FiberShake drink (designer: by Dóra Melher).
The July K9 dog harness designed by Gyula Sebő was awarded in the product design category, which is already commercially available.
This year's Hungarian winners of the product design category featuring prototype-level designs are the Slé sleigh (designer: Miklósi Ádám) and Birosign pen (designer Nagy Ádám) capable of unique identification of the user.
